Our Action Groups

Update

In January 2021, the Executive Committee met to discuss moving forward with the Action Groups that we introduced at the November 2020 SLSA General Membership Meeting.  As a result we have decided to move to a goal oriented action group system in place of the three categories we discussed in November.  Doing so will allow for a more focused approach to accomplishing our goals.

The Executive Committee decided on the following goals, in no particular order, with a few possible action items beneath each goal:

 

“New” Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards Rollout

  • GOALS: Training for directors for turn key, Librarians role and Building relationships with identified stakeholders
    • Reports to Executive Committee
  • Co-Chairs: Jim Belair and Nikki Waskie-Laura
    • Members: Leanne Ellis, Susanne Ford-Croghan, Meghan Gartland, and Mary Ann Monroe

 

“New” School Library Program Rubric Rollout

  • GOALS: Training for directors for turn key, Turn it into a member plan, and Districts – advocacy tool
    • Reports to Executive Committee
  • Co-Chairs: Michael Dodes and Melissa Jacobs
    • Members: Cindy Buerkle, Eleanor Friedman, Rebecca Gerald, Julia Iannello, Sara Kardasz, Patricia Sarles and Alicia Thompson

 

New Director Mentor Program

  • GOALS: Welcoming Action Items, Orientation and On-going training/learning
    • Reports to Executive Committee
  • Co-Chairs: J’aimé Pfeiffer and Kerrie Burch
    • Members: Maura Albertson, Doreen Bergman, Katie Bertrand, Lynn Miller, and Penny Sweeney

 

School Library Systems Advocacy

  • GOALS: Various projects based on advocacy committee work
    • Reports to Advocacy Committee
  • Co-Chairs: Judy Ashby and Sue LeBlanc
    • Members: Kim Hooper, Carl Vitevitch and Mary Kay Welgoss

 

School Library/Librarian Advocacy

  • GOALS: Librarians as Instructional Leaders, eResource Curators, Family Support – Remote Instruction and Program Targets – growing program
    • Reports to Executive Committee
  • Co-Chairs: Cece Fuoco and Ginger Tebo
    • Members: Karie Dolger, Annie Gerstzoff, Donna Gray, Joe Mannozzi and Tracey Wong
