The New York Library Association (NYLA) is pleased to welcome Ginger Tebo, St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES, to the NYLA Council!
Ginger will join the NYLA Council after winning the 2021 Special Election to fill the NYLA Councilor-at-Large (School) seat through 2022, winning with 61% of the votes. A total of 437 ballots were cast, representing 9% of eligible voters.
From NYLA news release:
Ever since my very first real job shelving books in my middle school library, I’ve been attracted to the principles of lifelong learning, intellectual freedom, equity, democracy, and service, as well as the people who help our organizations reflect these beliefs.
As a member of NYLA and the Director of the St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System, I’ve worked on committees and supported initiatives that further promote these core values.
The North Country region where I live and work has a great tradition of teamwork and open communication, and I see this opportunity to serve on the NYLA Council as a chance to encourage collaborative relationships like these throughout the state.
With help and direction from NYLA, libraries and librarians can be the drivers of change. I believe the ability to form partnerships and listen to/reflect on all voices is necessary to face the challenges of our present situation.
