Indian Culture Workshop in Western NY

On November 4th 2019 Erie 1 BOCES SLS and Orleans-Niagara BOCES SLS hosted Akruti Babaria for a Workshop on Indian culture.

The workshop was well attended with school librarians, ESL teachers and related educators who were interested in learning more about the Indian culture to enhance and fosters a diverse curriculum. One of the largest democracies in the world, the participants got to know India and its rich culture. The session took participants on a journey through India, its food, religions, and clothing, and introduce two major Indian festivals: Holi and Diwali.

This session was a mixture of lecture style presentation and interactive activities. We sampled some Indian food, previewed Indian children’s books, tried on clothing and learned a few dance moves.
