Sullivan BOCES School Library System wins Twila Snead Commitment to Excellence Award

Sullivan BOCES School Library System is the 2019 recipient of the Twila Snead Commitment to Excellence Award for the Cross County Reading Challenge.

The award selection committee unanimously agreed that the Cross County Reading Challenge clearly met the award criteria for:

  • Leadership in the creation of a new or enhanced service model that can be emulated by other libraries or library systems.
  • Creation of an innovative program or collection that enhances the lives of the organization’s constituents.
  • Provision of a service to the community that is not available from any other library, archive, cultural heritage organization or library system, or that is outside the organization’s primary mission or the individual’s job description and benefited the community in which the organization resides.

Sullivan BOCES School Library System will receive a commemorative award at the Southeastern’s Annual Meeting held on June 7th at The Thayer Hotel, West Point.

This annual award, given by the Southeastern NY Library Resources Council, honors outstanding and excellent individuals, organizations or programs. The award is named in memory of Twila Snead, who was the Medical Library Manager at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY for twenty years.
